Farm Girl Vintage Quilt Along - Week 5
We are now in our second month of the Farm Girl Vintage Quilt Along.
This is week 5! (I couldn't help but think of Ryan Seacrest saying "This IS Week 5, of the Farm Girl Vintage Quilt Along"!) Ahhh, my television mind is always working. For those of you who don't know me, my husband and I run a television production company. My husband is a Director and Editor. I run the office from home, while he travels on location every week.
Alas, Week 5!
We are working from Lori Holt's Farm Girl Vintage book: and are completing blocks 9 and 10 out of 48.
Every year, the month of September brings forth the annual Farm Aid concert, which my husband is fortunate enough to be involved in. Farm Aid helps keep family farmers on the land by providing Family Farm Disaster Funds, Grant Programs, and overall, helping family farmers thrive.
The annual Farm Aid Concert is this weekend, September 19, in Chicago, and this year is the 30th Anniversary! Farm Aid 30 will be streamed live at farmaid.org starting at 2:30pm CST. The webcast, Farm Aid 30 Live Presented by Amy’s, will feature artist performances and stories from family farmers and eaters across the country.
Here are the two blocks for Week 5: In honor of family farmers,
Block 9: Crops Block, page 23 of the Farm Girl Vintage book:
Block 10: Farm Fresh Flower Block, page 26 of the Farm Girl Vintage book:
We do have a Flickr group, where you can post pictures of your completed blocks! Here is the link: Flickr - Farm Girl Vintage Group. There is also a discussion area on the Flickr page! You can even start your own discussion!
Until next week! Support your local farmers!

Farm Girl Vintage Quilt Along - Week 4
You have made it to Week 4! Give yourself a pat on the back!
This week, you will have completed 8 blocks out of 46. As a reminder, there are 46 unique blocks, however, you will end up with a total of 48 blocks to make an 8 x 6 block quilt, as on the cover of
Lori Holt's Farm Girl Vintage book, which we are working from. Included in the 46 unique blocks, is the downloadable Penny Pig block, from Fat Quarter Shop.
Cherries, I love cherries, cherry pie, cherry juice, cherry turnovers, anything cherry!
On the home front here in California, a little update. My dining room table is now a dining room table. It does not have any quilting items on it! In fact, there is not one piece of fabric, not a sewing machine or two or three, nor any supplies in the living area at all, for the first time in 3 years! Our house is now on the market! I had to pack up all of my fabric, boo hoo, but on the plus side ~ I can actually walk in my studio now.
I hope you are having fun with the quilt along. I really enjoy the process of picking out fabric from my charm pack stash. Auditioning fabrics is sew much fun!
What is your favorite part of the quilt along; selecting fabric, cutting, piecing, ironing? Are you fabric swapping with your friendship group?
We do have a Flickr group, where you can post pictures of your completed blocks! Here is the link: Flickr - Farm Girl Vintage Group. There is also a discussion area on the Flickr page!
Happy piecing and have a great week!

Farm Girl Vintage Quilt Along - Week 3
Welcome to Week 3 of the Farm Girl Vintage Quilt Along!
It has been sew exciting to see the participation in this quilt along. By the end of this week, you will have completed 6 blocks. This week we are working on blocks 5 and 6, of 46 unique blocks. By the end of the quilt along, you may end up with more than 46 blocks. If you look at the cover quilt of Lori Holt's Farm Girl Vintage book, you will see that she uses 4 of the same star blocks for her corner blocks. We, however, have added the additional Penny Pig Block download to our quilt along, which could go in place of one of the corner star blocks. So, actually, we will end up with a total of 48 blocks, of which 46 are unique.
We do have a Flickr group, where you can post pictures of your completed blocks! Here is the link: Flickr - Farm Girl Vintage Group. I love seeing everyone's blocks!
Here are the two blocks for this week: Week 3
As we say good bye to Summer, we also welcome the cooler days of Autumn! I love the golden glow of an autumnal sunset! The leaves are beginning to change, the sun sets 1 minute earlier each day, the kids are back in school, but I do miss Summer. I'll miss Movie Monday's with my friends at the outdoor theater mostly! Before we know it, Winter will be here, so enjoy the last few weeks of warm weather! Quilt on!
Block 5 of 46: Summer Star Block, pg. 63 of the Farm Girl Vintage book:
Happy fun selecting your fabrics for these two blocks, and don't forget to post your finished blocks to our Flickr - Farm Girl Vintage Group!
